Triple Crown for Cattle Showing has Three New Veterinary Sponsors

Three one-day agricultural shows in the Midlands are pleased to announce the Three Shires Cattle Competition also referred to as the ‘Triple Crown’ for cattle showing is back and has three new sponsors.

Hanbury Countryside Show in Worcestershire (Saturday, July 1st), Burwarton Show in Shropshire (Thursday, August 3rd) and Moreton Show in Gloucestershire (Saturday, September 2nd) will award the Three Shires Cattle Trophy to the exhibitor who gains the most points across all three shows.

The respected award, with a £1,000 top prize, is sponsored by MBG Veterinary Surgeons, Shropshire Farm Vets and Hook Norton Veterinary Group. The leading farm animal veterinary practices from Worcestershire, Shropshire and Gloucestershire; the three counties in which each of the Shows are held.

Ollie Morrison, partner at MBG Veterinary Surgeons said, ‘We are pleased to be joining forces with two other leading Midlands veterinary practices to support the 2023 Three Shires Cattle Trophy Competition’.

James Marsden, partner at Shropshire Farm Vets, followed by saying, ‘it’s a pleasure to be supporting this prestigious farming award, Shropshire Farm Vets alongside MBG and Hook Norton Vets are keen to promote and support cattle showing across the Midlands’.

Steve Glanvill, partner at Hook Norton Veterinary Group, hailed the new partnership and said: ‘we are greatly looking forward to presenting the awards to the winners at Moreton Show in September’.

The three vet practices are committed to the future of the sustainable family farm model and for providing a high-quality service for farmers in their respective areas across the three counties of Worcestershire, Shropshire and Gloucestershire. All three are established independent veterinary businesses offering a broad provision of services undertaken by an experienced and committed team of vets.

MBG Veterinary Surgeons, Shropshire Farm Vets and Hook Norton Veterinary Group wish all the competitors the very best of luck in the Three Shires Cattle Trophy this year!

Handlers will accumulate points by showing their cattle at all three shows and the running total will be kept secret until the finale at Moreton Show. As well as the £1000 top prize, the runner up will receive £350 and £150 will go to third place.

Gill Brian, Cattle Secretary at Hanbury said: ‘We hope that the competition will encourage increased support for cattle showing at each of the Shows. This in turn helps to promote the very best of British livestock farming’.

Lynne Parkes, Moreton Livestock Secretary said: ‘this treble, involving three shows, is aiming to attract some of the finest cattle from across the UK and we’d like to encourage farmers to compete for what will be the equivalent of a championship final in cattle showing.’

Peter Kirton, Chief Cattle Steward at Burwarton said: ‘This is the cattle showing competition with a modern twist, and we hope people will enjoy what we have to offer at all three shows.’

The prize-giving forms part of the Livestock Parade in the Grand Arena at Moreton Show. The livestock showing section boasts around 400 livestock on show on Saturday 2nd September.
